The group lead by Roger Ver (the most prominent promoter of original Bitcoin Cash) and Jihan Wu (Bitman mining company) was promoting Bitcoin Cash ABC (short for Adjustable Blocksize Cap) that maintains the block size at 32 MB. The second camp led by Craig Wright (claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the Bitcoin creator) and Calvin Ayre (Coingeek mining company) vowed for Bitcoin SV (short for Satoshi's Vision) software that would increase the block size limit to 128 MB.
According to the creators, the Bitcoin SV is the original Bitcoin (hence the name), it restores the original Bitcoin protocol, will keep it stable, and allow it to massively scale. The project roadmap outlines the process in a few phases: restoring the original protocol, stabilizing, igniting scalability, security and excelling the payment experience.
- Bitcoin SV (BSV) is sometimes referred to as BCHSV (Bitcoin Cash SV), although BSV is the "official" abbreviation and is used more widely.
- The conflicts in the Bitcoin community between the BSV supporters and some other groups, the lawsuits between Craig Steven Wright and some other community members, etc. led to delisting BSV at several major exchanges.
- 24 July 2019, the Bitcoin SV network undergoes a forking protocol upgrade called Quasar, allowing to increase the block size hard cap even further, up to 2 GB (2,000 MB).
