About Qtum

Qtum is a decentralized, open-source smart contracts platform and value transfer protocol. It is a hybrid of Bitcoin and Ethereum, built on a Bitcoin Core fork but incorporating elements from Ethereum to execute smart contracts and decentralized applications. The platform uses a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, where node operators are rewarded for validating transactions. Qtum is a DGP (Decentralized Governance Protocol) governed blockchain, allowing community participants to vote on certain network parameters. It builds on Bitcoin's UTXO transaction model and aims to provide a Turing-complete blockchain stack.

• Qtum's team includes members from both the Bitcoin and Ethereum communities, as well as former employees of Tencent, Alibaba, and Nasdaq.
• Qtum is backed by notable figures in the blockchain community, including Anthony Di Iorio, Roger Ver, and Bo Shen.
• Qtum's crowdfunding campaign sold over $10 million worth of tokens in just 90 minutes, eventually raising $15.7 million before ending early after only 5 days.
• The campaign raised 11,156.766 BTC and 77,081.031 ETH in exchange for 51 million Qtum tokens.
• In Qtum's whitepaper, 51% of coins were distributed to the public, 29% allocated as community incentives, and 20% to early backers and the development team.
