About IOTA

IOTA is an open-source blockchain designed as public digital infrastructure to connect global economies onchain. It uses a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture integrated with the Move VM, enabling smart contracts, digital assets, and digital identity on a scalable, permissionless Layer 1. Its modular design supports parallel transaction processing, low fees, and fee sponsorship. IOTA is used in real-world environments, focusing on digital trade and supply-chain infrastructure, with collaborations with governments and institutions. The network is secured by delegated proof-of-stake, and the $IOTA token is used for staking, validator rewards, and fee burning. Founded in 2015, it is guided by the non-profit IOTA Foundation in Berlin.
